- queries or requests for assistance/information in the first instance to your Area Administrator. You will find the name of your Area Administrator and contact details on the spreadsheet that was emailed to you.
- to the Education Precinct web site or to your Area Administrator for moving preparation information and also EHS information. Education Precinct website can be located at: http://www.education.unimelb.edu.au/moving/
Teaching spaces, level 4, 234 Queensberry Street update: It is anticipated that level 4 will be completed in mid/late August, 2011. Due to this Science, Maths and PE teaching storerooms will not be packed up at this stage. Teaching for these areas will remain in existing timetabled venues.
PREPARING FOR YOUR MOVE
Move logistics
- Key contact is your Area Administration in the first instance
- Main things to move are:
- Computers
- Office or work area contents
- Crates for packing will be supplied (approx. average 25 per person)
- Crates can be stacked (no more than 3 high)
- Crates will stack on trolleys (‘skate boards)
- Movers will pack storerooms and kitchen areas
- Occupants will pack their own office/work area
- Computers - Movers will unlock, move, re-connect, check power, re-lock
- Phones do not move – new phones supplied at Queensberry Street
- Occupants need to label. Labels are supplied by movers to your Area Administrator. Please see your Area Administrator for a supply of labels.
- Each occupant allocated a move number
- Crates are labelled on the “label here” spot
- Please label everything including each component of computer (back of monitor not front) and everything that is to move – if it is not labelled it will not be moved
- Each occupant will have a checklist provided where occupant indicates number crates, computer etc. Please be accurate as an incorrect number at the location will mean people searching for the missing items
- Maps will be available at new location so people can find their way
- Please also bring your bins – as bins are not yet supplied at the new location – these will come at a later date. Please label your existing bin with your new work area location.
- If occupants already have packed contents in boxes for example – do not need to re-pack – but do ensure they are labelled
- Valuables: please take valuables home with you – and then decide if you want them in the new location later
- Please hand in old office keys to your Area Administrator
- IT equipment will be moved first, then contents. If any particular crate is priority, label it appropriately.
Other points noted:
- The new building is fully furnished so no furniture needs to be moved. An exception may be made for individually specified ergonomic chairs – please make this request via your local administrator.
- At this stage there cannot be any change to agreed workspace allocations at Queensberry St. When everyone is settled in, requests for any change to these plans can be made through the Space Management process which MGSE has developed (and lodged with the Business Centre on L3).
- Details of new office/workstation numbers will be forwarded to local administrators shortly.
- At the new location, IT equipment will be set up first, but given the scale of the move, it is likely that not everyone will be connected straight away - some may not be operational until later in the day. Staff who have the flexibility to do so might want to consider working off campus on day #1.
- If there is not enough storage capacity in individual workspaces, there are other options in storerooms and open spaces, depending on the material to be stored. Staff are encouraged to be ruthless when packing, particularly those who are dealing with many years of accumulated material.
